Affiliate links and integrity

We’ve spent years learning how to get the most out of the points system. In exchange for that expertise some of the information we present includes a link for users to apply for the cards and programs we cover. We may receive a small commission when a user successfully applies. We believe our value comes from integrity – we do not flood our users with everything out there. We share only what we believe are the best, most advantageous options for Canadians. Otherwise, in our opinion, we’re not really helping.

Comments

When visitors leave comments on the site we collect the data shown in the comments form, and also the visitor’s IP address and browser user agent string to help spam detection.

An anonymized string created from your email address (also called a hash) may be provided to the Gravatar service to see if you are using it. The Gravatar service privacy policy is available here: https://automattic.com/privacy/. After approval of your comment, your Gravatar profile picture is visible to the public in the context of your comment.

At all times, we reserve the right to determine which comments are published and for how long.

Our site uses cookies for performance and for your convenience. For example, if you use our contact form you may see an opt-in to save your name and email address. These are for your convenience so that you do not have to fill in your details again. These cookies will last for one year. Deleting your browser’s cookies will delete this data.

When you respond to a questionnaire from us or otherwise share personally identifiable information with us, we understand this requires trust, so we protect your information as diligently as we do our own. We do not share your data with anybody unless compelled by law.

How long we retain your data

If you leave a comment, the comment and its metadata are retained indefinitely. This is so we can automatically recognize and approve any follow-up comments instead of holding them in a moderation queue. Information you provide to us in consultation is also preserved for historical reference should we continue working together.

What rights you have over your data

If you have communicated with us or left comments, you can request to receive an exported file of the personal data we hold about you, including any data you have provided to us. You can also request that we erase any personal data we hold about you. This does not include any data we are obliged to keep for administrative, legal, or security purposes.

Where your data is sent

Visitor comments are checked through an automated spam detection service. Personally identifiable information provided by you in consultation does not leave the secure storage environment without your express permission.
